This school is poor for kids who struggle- especially those w/ disabilities. It is my belief the school district as a whole & their various leaders completely underestimate how hard it is to be a special needs student in Cohasset (though the same is probably true in any affluent, predominantly white community). The town/school population is not diverse enough which is a detriment because there's not a whole lot of empathy or tolerance for those who are different or less than perfect (parents, students, administrators, & teachers alike). This particular school also doesn't make any real efforts to support or promote anti-bullying practices. Some of these kids that struggle emotionally, socially, or academically become victims of bullying and are literally forced out of the system. Cohasset is an elitist town w/ an elitist school system that only truly caters to the elite student. Sadly, MCAS scores are what matter most.

Cohasset is a good school district. My daughter just went private school as a freshman. The 3 other students from Cohasset are way behind in French. Its interesting what you learn when you change schools. Math is strong. Writing skills seem to be a little low.
Cohasset has long been an excellent school because it has been able to find and retain excellent teachers. Class sizes rival those of many private schools with between 10 to 20 students per class. Cohasset is a very small town yet offers a many advanced placement courses and has a strong commitment to the arts. I was fortunate to be able to study six years of Latin and four years of Spanish at Cohasset while also participating in a number of sports and extra-curricular activities. If anything Cohasset perhaps does some students a disservice by focusing on preparing the entire student body for college, while it is great that everyone receives an excellent education at every level some students do graduated and find themselves at college when they may not yet be ready for it.
