Rudolf Steiner is an amazing school. The best education, the warmest enviroment and the kindest administration. It is truly an honor being a member of the community.

This school transcends conventional educational processes whether public or private. If the dominant educational model were Waldorf, the world would be a better place. The children here celebrate life without sacrificing discipline. They are artists, muscians and scientists. Plato said two thousand years ago, I would teach children music, physics and philosophy but most importantly music, for in the patterns of music and all the arts are the keys of learning. Steiner does these three.

This is a great school for the right type of kid. It's not progressive in the sense of allowing your child to create their own program--there are limited elective choices. But, the program is so rich that my child took a broader array of classes than her friends at other independent schools in the city. It should be noted that the school does not have any resources for students with special learning, attention/anxiety, or emotional needs, but I'd recommend it wholeheartedly for students with good organizational skills, stamina, and passion for learning.
Rudolf Steiner students are incredibly welcoming and supportive of each other. The parent body is equally as warm and the teachers pay close attention to their students. Steiner students are lucky: in addition to taking academic subjects, they also take a large repretoire of art classes (visual, performing, instrumental, movement, and practical arts). The proximity to Central Park allows a good dig in the mud and simply time to experience the seasons. My child loves school and looks forward to coming to Steiner everyday.
