As a concerned parent of my childrens education, Lyndale school is under acheving. With a principal that can not help those students that are starting to fall in between the cracks due to the no child left behind law. ( Hello lets be realistic this is when the students start to fall behind ) Lyndale lacks after school programs and tutoring. The school its self needs a face lift, these poor children are attending a school that looks like a jail house. The playground needs to be updated!!!! as well as the restrooms and classrooms. The teachers look overwhelmed and stressed because the ratio per class is 33 to a teacher. My concern is where the funding money is going it surly isnt to the school and definitley not to the students. Now a days parents are the ones providing classroom materials due to lack of funding.
My son is in Kindergarten and really enjoys his teacher. His teacher provides my son with what he needs and challenges him when he needs it. It has been a great experience for him.

Lyndale lacks staff that actually care about helping the students, both academically and personally. A teachers job is not just academics, it may include social/personal skills not taught at home. There are some excellent teachers and then there are some teachers that are not which is typical. The principal is unliked by parents as well as teachers. The schools facility is neglected to say the least. Egg from Halloween still coats some windows and walls. Parental involvement is slim due to the fact that most parents are Spanish speaking. Restrooms are worse than most gas stations. With a principal who believes that the school's condition is the students fault, how can things ever get better. Bottom line, its East Side San Jose and it's probably the best for this district; which in no way discredits or excuses the fact the way and who the school is run by is unfortunate for unfortunate children.

Lyndale is ok, but, the problem is the principal that is in the school now. She is too strict, and not kid friendly at all. The school policies she puts out there does'nt seem to reflect the Alum Rock district policies, like the stiff dress codes, the student attendance she sent out seems harsh. I realy liked the other principals that were there in the past, and made going to school fun, and children were very comfortable to aproach these principals.
