As someone with a background in education, I found the kindergarten curriculum to be very mediocre. The kindergarten curriculum seemed to be an extension of preschool for over half of the year my child was in this particular classroom. The so called best kindergarten teacher was friendly to all of the other parents from the community except myself and my family, for some odd reason. Based on my experience and observation, there are very low expectations and academic standards for students. The rest of the school staff seemed friendly and welcoming. I would not recommend this school for parents who hold high academic expectations for their students. My child's year in this school was a waste.
The principal is excellent. She has a huge reading inititive going on right now. I expect this number to jump greatly. My kids are having an excellent experience at Western!
It is a very cool school! Good teachers and an awesome principal. I'm a student and I have an autistic brother that went to that school and if someone made fun of him or did something mean, Something was always done about it by the wonderful Mrs.Link! Now he is a sophomore and he is doing great!
