Traffic in the morning and after school is terrible. The principal, Gutierrez, has attempted to implement gates in the parking lot as part of a new 'safety' measure. The principal is on a power trip and talks down to everyone, as if she is the only one with a college education. Many of us parents simply do not have an alternative and are forced to send our kids to school here. The bilingual program at the school is mediocre. The children who want to learn will learn. I do not agree subjects should be taught in the child's secondary language. For example, Science is taught in Spanish and the child gets a grade. Personally, I feel that learning Spanish in the RGV is essential, but I think it should be on the parent's shoulders, not school. Many of the teachers do not speak PROPER SPANISH.

This school year we have both a new principal and facilitator. They have been instrumental in motivating both the teachers and students to do the very best and then some. We work together as a team and we challenge our students academically by setting high expectations. We are very proud of them.

I am seriously dissapointed with this school, I transferred my child from another PSJA ISD school only to be at a school where average is the goal, grades in TAKS and ranking are astonishing-barely academically acceptable. Also the traffic for drop-off and pick-up of your child is atrocious! Vehicles scrambling to get in and be first in line, A large part of the problem are the parents- no shows during the parent teacher meetings to adress concerns with their children, no involvement- and the staff is so tired of the situation they have just given up. Unfortunately the children loose.
