My daughter graduated this year. I agree that this school could do a lot more to help the students. If you are not an athlete, there isn't much for you. Many of the kids are not prepared for college. In four years, I haven't met, talked or received one email from a single teacher. They let me know that they do not need any parental involvement. Parents are not kept informed about what the school is doing. The school website still doesn't list what homework is due, test scores or accurate school information. Compared to all the other schools (3 states) I have been involved with, this school has a lot of room for improvement. Parents should be involved with the school. The cliques need to be discouraged, especially at the top. I have not been happy with this school.
I'm a former student. This school does not do enough to prepare students for college or living in a large city. The school needs to raise its academics considerably and help its students understand how important academics are in the real world. I certainly did not get the advice I needed from any teacher or counselor. Students that are good kids but have little parental guidance will have to fend for themselves at this school when learning lessons. Other than Mr. Vieth, this school did nothing to guide its students. And this school is considered better than all neighboring schools. When I got out of MO, I realized that FHS was sub-par to all the schools my friends went to. I wish the school system in Farmington had given my a better education. I consider the whole district below average.
