This school ended being a gem discovered for us. The teachers are among the best and can gear their teaching to the individual needs of students with all different abilities. Very high API score despite the great number of English Learners. Great movement, singing and art classes are available some during the school hours and some in the afterschool program on site. A very unique school that teaches children about being kind, caring and successful individuals. Certainly, there is not a program like it if you have a child with a disability who needs assistance but should be fully included in the learning environment. It is an incredibly good school for everyone. The school is one of the very few in WCCUSD that actually succeeds with all student groups regarding No Child Left Behind program.

Castro elementary School is a wonderful school environment, both for children and for their families. It is unfair to compare a school that offers so many programs for children with different learning disabilities and with a high percentage of English language learners to other schools in the same city that do not offer such programs. Castro has a very caring, involved, and competent principal, extraordinarily devoted and capable teachers, a fantastic support staff, and an unusually committed core parent group. Castro School makes everyone feel welcome. There are some unique events, offered only at Castro, that draw in the entire family. Castro Elementary School absolutely deserves a higher rating, based on the totality of the learning experience, and not solely on test scores.

Castro has been around for over 30 years. I have volunteers at the school for two years. The teachers are caring, willing to help all children with needs. We have a wonderful speak, special ED classes. Our PTA does as many things as possible to help provide fun, education and fundraisers to help provide funds to our school. We have a multi culture of ethnistic which is the rainbow of our country.
