I have had four children go through this school, two of which were on IEP's and one who is gifted in reading and writing. The really picked up on my kids streangths and used that to help them develope their weaknesses. I continue to be pleased with thier efforts.

The school is beautiful. The literacy program is very strong. My other son went to school in another district and I was a sub for that district. Their literacy program did not compare to Lakeshore's. Lakeshore uses data to make decisions and show growth for your child. Communication is good, although I'm very disappointed with the PTC. There are few volunteers and parents are only invited to 3 meetings a year!! Surrounding districts invite parents to EVERY meeting, have many volunteers and raise more money for the school. PTC should pay for field trips but they don't. They are too busy buying other basics that the district fell short, such as playground equipment. Overall, nice school, good leadership and very qualified teachers.

Good teachers, clean environment, most children progress at a rapid rate. I have not seen a lot of misbehaving among students.

We are not originally from this area, so I wasn't sure about the public school when my son started. But his kindergarten experience was wonderful and very positive. First grade is also going well. There are mostly young teachers and the school is brand new and beautiful. Parent involvement is not very high, but there are some very dedicated parents who are supportive. We are in a relatively low-income area, but I am happy with this school for my child.

They could be doing much more to earn money by collecting more then just BoxTops & Soup Labels. There are Capri Sun Drink Pouches, Used cell phones, laptops, empty ink/toner cartridges. They should look at TerraCycling.com What is PTA REALLY doing?

It is great to teach our kids to give to others-within limits. Support without demanding! I boycott school fundraisers; donate elsewhere to show real value in helping where needed.

From the asking perspective (such as schools asking students to donate to causes) frequent appeals for donations creates real problems for families who cannot afford to donate to every appeal or cause. Stop pressuring kids for money.
