I would consider Lowery Intermediate School as top rated school in Ascension Parish. I have visited many schools and have worked in several. When I first visited Lowery I was in awe, no kids walking the hall or no students setting in the office because noone could not discipline them or if there was a child on the hall they were accompanied by an adult. Iam not saying this school doesn t have discipline but they must handle it well. As I pass by classroom teachers were not screaming at the students I hear teachers complimenting students. At this school 'the children are first' when changing class they are organize( going up the hall walk left side going down walk right side) Teachers standing at the door to greet students. You know what was really amazing the Christmas play the Asst. Principal took part in Drama Club interacting with students. Great School I highly recommend. Caring

Lowery Intermediate has been known for its low test scores the past few years. The students this year have made great strides. The faculty and staff of LOI have implemented several program to ensure enormous growth for students and push them to their highest potential. The faculty and staff there truly care about the students and community and want the best for them. This school is on the rise to bigger and better things. Let's show them TIGERS!

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
