My daughter went to Fairview for Kindergarten (2003-2004)and 1st grade (2004-2005) and both experiences were positive for her. Kindergarten exposed her to nightly and weekly homework assignments. At the time I thought was too much pressure to impose on a 5-6 year old. However, since then I have been glad that she had to weather through that. Her 1st grade teacher was exceptional. She truly took an interest in the children, in their educational as well as their social and emotional needs. She was nurturing and encouraging without loosing control of the class. The principal and counselor were very involved in with the children as well and knew the children individually. Although the school is located in a low income area that sees quite a bit of police activity, the school makes every effort to be a community school that takes an interest in each child.

I am very proud of this school and it's faculty. When my children need help they are there to help and when we had a crisis Mr. Swan came to our house and helped us. We had thought of going back to California but we are so impressed with this school we will be here at least til both of our boys are out of Fairveiw
