My son transferred to CES for the last 3 wks. of 4th grade and is currently in 5th grade. He moved from Oak Grove Elem. in Lexington. We have been thrilled with his experience at CES. The facilities are much nicer - the gym is bigger, they have a dedicated art program, and the food is wonderful! We have found the school to be thriving with parent volunteers seen all over the campus. The PTA is active and always working for the betterment of the school. We are blessed with a teacher that truly cares about ALL of her students and dedicated to improving his PACT scores. He is in the honor's program and loves it! We have been nothing but happy with this school and would recommend it highly.

I truly feel that the only good thing about the first day of school today was the one hour delay. My child has been a student of Conway Elementary for two wonderful years under Mrs. Morris. Today I Was ready to put him in private school. I am a conserned enough parent that my husband drops him off in the morning and I go to the door in person to insure his safety personally. Today the new principal informed myself and a lot of other parents we were no longer allowed to perform this responsible act. What? I was allowed to stand 'outside' the door and watch my son get very upset because he saw me standing there but he couldnt come out. I am very upset with how this is being handled. I was not alone in my disappointment. This procedure is benefitting no one! Please reconsider. Thank You. Susan Deese

I have two boys that are attending Conway Elementary this year. Last year I had one and I will say that I really do think that the teachers are doing their best with these kids. I also found out that a lot of parents don't attend a lot of open houses and pto meeting and some even don't attend parent teacher night. I think that all parents should at least attend one meeting a month to see how their child/children are progressing in school and what they need to work on.

If you truly mean a shy kid who wants to be outgoing, then I would help them interact with one child at a time. If you are talking about an introverted child, refer to http://www.carlkingdom.com/10-myths-about-introverts

Find something you are good at or enjoy doing a lot, just one thing. You'll gain confidence and meet other kids that enjoy that activity too. Mine was singing in choir. I wasn't good at anything else but that built my confidence for other things... More »
