I think that Powell Middle Schools has one of the best curriculum of any school in Knoxville, TN. My Grandson has went to Powell Middle School for three years and has maintained a grade point average of 4.0 and will graduate in May, 2010. The Principal, Mr. Gary Criitselous is an exemplary Christian man who reads his Bible daily before school starts for the day, he is very caring and wants all of his students to achieve success. As for the teachers of Powell there are no finer, caring individuals who wants their student to achieve. I have been very pleased with my experience of the school's Principal and Teachers. Thank you for giving my grandson the experience of a fine learning enviornment

I atteneded Powell Middle and ended up switching. It was the worst school I ever went too. Yes they are extremely strict, silent lunches, I stood up in my seat at lunch to dust my pants off and got lunch detention for standing even when i explained. I had a teacher yell at me for asking help on a math problem and said it wasnt her job, to ask my parents and I had an English teacher that literally made fun of a boy! I thought it was sick and inappropriate. They are so concerned with what they can write students up for than actually helping them. I excelled in my next school and loved it when i left powell! I was always a nervous wreck there!

You get what your tax dollars pay for! Excellent school for the money in my opinion.

Check to see if students with disabilities are a priority because otherwise the state doesn't pay for that child to go to School if they don't have a disability your child has to be put on a waiting list for pre-k! if their not

1.Go on a tour of a school tour 2. Talk to the director (and the teacher your child will have) about what the students day like. 3. Watch school in session 4. Look out for red flags: neglected children at play, lazy, non engaging teachers
