In Kindergarten and 1st grade my daughter had wonderfully caring teachers at Park Avenue. 2nd grade has been a disappointment. In reaching out to the teachers to discuss issues pertaining to my daughter, I have been turned away and told to wait weeks for their conferences. Then when going to the conference, the teachers look at us funny and wait for us to ask questions about our child. They have a rotating science one half of the year and social studies the other. The teachers have a new science curriculum that even they barely know. This year has been an embarrassment at PAE and we are beginning to explore moving or private school so that our child can get the education she deserves.

I have just entered my first child in one of the Park Avenue Elementary kindergarten classes. I admit that although I attended Freehold Boro schools myself I was not looking forward to sending my daughter to any of the Boro schools, but I got started early doing my research, talking to the administrative and teaching staff, initiated dialog with the princpal and was one of the first parents along with my husband to attend the kindergarten open house held last May. Does the school have challenges with resources and crowding - yes it does, but it also has great people that are committed to the education and well being of the students of Freehold Boro. We were extremely impressed with the principal in particular who gave evidence that he not only enjoys his job but is working so hard to do much with the resources afforded him.

I grew up in the boro, i love the town but in the past couple of years im becoming unhappy. I attended the schools in the boro during the chitwood/rev days, it was better then. The overcrowding in this town is out of hand and something needs to be done. I have 2 daughters attending pae and a son that should be going to a school but has to attend a church because of overcrowding. My 4th grader has a learing problem and i dont think shes getting the help she needs, what is happening, my kids education/future is on the line and with having to work non-stop its hard on the parents too, we work so hard and pay into so much but i feel like nothing is coming out of the money that is taken, there is nothing for the working class in this state, even a good education.Sick-of-it.
