I have three children that has attended MES, and one that is still there. My first two had a decent elementary school experience, but the one that is still there struggles constantly with reading. I have all but been told that there is nothing more that can be done to help my child. I am very disapointed with the decision that this school has made regarding my child. He needs extra help, and they won't give it to him. I would not recommend anyone send there child there if this is how they treat struggling students.
Moreland Elem School continues to have a loving, caring community feeling. The principal & many teachers & workers live in this community & seem to know all their children & their families. Every AM teachers are outside helping children out of vehicles, walking them to the door, holding umbrellas if needed, & the same TLC is there in the afternoons when their ride comes. The food is good, & parents & grandparents are encouraged to have lunch with their child now & then. Pre-K & Kindergarten teachers encourage parents & grandparents to come & read to their classes. It is just such a positive, warm, loving place, one feels good just being there.

I have one child attending MES and another that has just left for middle school. I think you can be as involved as you or your child would like to be. We have to monitor our children's activities to make sure they are not over extended. My wife and I have never been dissappointed with any of our children's teachers. The mix of socioeconomic backgrounds (from blue collar to affluent) helps to give them the exposure to deal with the real world later in life.

This is a community school, and the best aspects are apparent as you become acquainted with the teachers, parents, and students. I am constantly impressed with the school's welcoming atmosphere and willingness to involve those interested in serving as volunteers, mentors, or readers. In addition, the faculty and staff are genuinely interested in the students' academic and individual non-academic needs.
