I like their Christmas Musical program, the plays, how they involve parents in monitoring the progress of the kids, as well as in the watching the programs mentioned above. Although Maine is mainly a Caucasian community, I did not see any racial discrimination against my kids (we're Filipino immigrants). On the contrary, my kids were very well accepted, and the staff were very supportive during the first weeks of adjustment (for 5 and 9 year-old kids), not discouraged by the language barrier. After two weeks my kids were completely at home, and they love their present school. They get the attention they need, all the positive as well as negative reinforcement they need depending on their behavior/performance. I say Athens Elem. School is awesome!

I'm a former graduate of this school. And my experence at athens was great. The teachers really do care about you. It is small so everyone knows everyone and you get the 1 on 1 attention that you need. Also for what they have to work with it is great. Good music program witch I was involved in. And a good sports program 3 time champions of the pine cone league in basketball. Deffiniitly athens is awsome. ~G CLARK~

This is a small school but that means your child will get all their needs met. The music program is, without a doubt, the best in the state for public schools.
