Hoover has the best staff! It is next door to Stockton Skills now and often Hoover gets the shaft, yet the teachers stay here which tells me alot! I was concerned about being K-8, but the 7/8 teachers are very good and give kids their cell #s to call at night! It needs facilities and could be cleaner, but to me that is the district's fault not the teachers or staff. Sandy and the counselor know all the kids and many parents and help with anything you need and with what they can.
I have to say I have spent 4 unsuccessful years here at this school with my oldest child. The teachers here seem to be more into socializing with each other and playing favorites with other teachers kids or relatives kids. Don't get me wrong there are some good teachers here but unfortunately throughout the last 4 years my child has only been lucky to have 1 excellent teacher...A lot of the teachers here are too mood, rude and unmotivated in their attempts to educate our children. To me it seems like a lot of the teachers here at this school do not enjoy their job as much as they should. Children are not always on task there are difficulties when working with children and it seems like a lot of the teachers here seem to forget that.
I am working to improve the extra curricular activities available to the students. I would like to see more involvement from the community in combination with the staff to increase student improvement.
This year has begun with a wonderful revial of community focus. The after school program is at full capacity with a large waiting list. Despite any budget concerns, the facilitator is working to provide a quality program that meets the needs of the entire student base. Thank you for setting the pace for others to follow.
