I think that some of the negative comments being made about GCHS are a little unfair. You have to realize that Greene County is one of the poorest in the state of Alabama; therefore it can not be compared to school systems in larger nearby cities such as Tuscaloosa or Demopolis. As a former student, I can honestly say that there are a lot of teachers that care about the students at the school, but until more funds are available for better facilities and learning material (books, lab equipment, library etc.) there can't be much improvement to the learning conditions. If you are a parent of a child enrolled in the Greene County School System, you need to be closely involved to make sure that funds are being used with the children's best interest in mind.

I, as a former student of GCHS, think that the school system of Greene County stands for alot of improvement. The system itself is hendering students from advancing toward a better education. Funds are not being put in the right places to ensure the survival of Greene County High in years to come. In addition, the system is not preparing students to properly deal with society or entrance into college. I just think the people of the school system and the people of the community should just wake and help our kids. 'We have to do better.'

I am a 2005 graduate of Greene County High School. I think that GCHS could stand an overall boost effort from administration, parents, and students. In order to improve, everyone most work together efficiently and effectively. It cannot be done alone. Most importantly, the community needs to show more concern and support for the school.

I think that this school can do a whole lot better. the food is worse and the teachers do not care. It is a horrible environment for anyone to be in.

It is critical to the success of the school. Great leadership means great students and staff very high moral at the school.

Very important - a school and its staff is only as strong as is leader. If the school has strong leadership then the school will also be strong.
