Both of my children have been educated at East Elementary and I have been pleased with the overall educational experiences they have received. East Elementary has a caring staff and is a beautiful and well-maintained building (built in the 1930s). Parents are highly involved in school activities and there are many music, sports, and other events to meet the needs of almost all students. I enjoy small city living - especially because I know my childrens' teachers and the other students' parents. I wouldn't want to have my children attend any other elementary school. Thanks.

When I moved into the city of Jefferson I was very surprised at how high the property taxes were. However, I have found that small communities with high taxes usually have very good schools. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. As each school year comes and goes I become increasingly frustrated and disappointed with the lack of devotion by the facility for the children and the poor mannerism which is displayed towards the parents. It has become obvious that the Principal, Connie Pellman, has other priorities than to provide a positive educational environment for the children at East Elementary. Further reflected by the low WKCE test scores. I was shocked to see how poorly the Jefferson Schools rated to other small communities with similar tax rates. It raises suspicion as to how the money is spent in the school budget if not for improving the education of our children.

If parents are willing to drive the extra distance, why wouldn't they be allowed to choose? Every school is not a match for every child and parents know their children best ... More »

Definitely! I believe that families should be allowed to attend any school they want, because there are some who went to a good school and parents want what's best for their kids. Even education.

Families should be able to attend any school they wish.
