Johnson Creek Elementary is providing a great educational opportunity for my child. The teachers are engaged and work at all levels of learning. The new Talented and Gifted program is providing additional opportunties that have not been previously available. Communication from school to home is good. Opportunities for enrichment are available for all subjects, including art, leadership, and even performance. A new building is needed due to large growth over the past 6 to 8 years. The community needs to come together to make this happen. Overall - we are very satisfied with our Johnson Creek educational experience. We are not "lifers" and do not feel that long time residents get preferential treatment.

Small town here means if your ancestors are not from around here you are not very welcomed. Any new technology is unheard of. Teachers are only there to play favorites to the "community leaders children" and likely their friends and lifelong neighbors. These are educators??? So educated that they refuse to pronounce the word "creek" as is is spelled...(see preferred pronunciation in Websters Dictionary). This word rhymes with leek, not lick!!! Its a wonder why people from other communities view residents from this town as being of the slow red-neck variety.

I am a parent of three children at the school. The small town atmosphere allows a positive school to home connection. The building is old, the community needs to prepare for an expanding community. The work is more individualized for each student and their current abilities. It would be a 4 or 5 star school with new facilities.

I am a graduate from Johnson Creek High, and currently have a sibling attending the same school. The school really does do great considering how funding is constantly being cut for education. I really liked the small town atmosphere...christ, we didn't even lock our lockers in high school because theft was a non-issue. If you want a big school where nobody knows you or cares about you, go elsewhere. As far as the comment about using school choice to go elsewhere is concerned: I used school choice to come to Johnson Creek because I loved the school district so much. Keep up the good work, Johnson Creek!

I go in every Monday and help with the Kindergarten reading group or play word games. Then I eat lunch with my child. I also attend and bring things to all school parties. Since I volunteer only on Mondays I do not burn out. : )

Our school gives us mandatory hours (15) that we must give to the school in one way or the other. It is very easy if you don't mind stuffing envelopes or being a lunch mom. I think they even give working moms the opportunities to work on paperwork.... More »
