The Principal's point of view

Posted June 1, 2011

I think Ella Fitzgerald said it best, "just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there's love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong." The uniqueness about having your children attend a school that parents, faculty and the community has collaborated to create is that you have the influence and ability to effect the changes you want to see in school and in the academic lives of your children. At each KCC Campus, decisions are ours to make together - not by politicians, not by unknown, disconnected Boards of people we don't know nor by management companies from other states that are primarily focused on profit margins. There is a certain satisfaction that can de derived from knowing that our high-performing, choice institutions are built on the love, inspiration, dedication, sweat and tears of people that you walk past in the parking lot every day.

I agree completely with the statement below. Both of my children attend Kid's Community College and they thoroughly enjoy it. The volunteer hour requirement keeps me and my husband active in the educational development of our children. The teachers are friendly and always available to meet and answer my questions. The principal, Mr. Kilpatrick, is a caring individual who has the best interest of every student at heart. We are blessed to have found KCC.

I am so pleased that I chose to enroll my son at Kid's Community College Charter School. I can not speak highly enough of the individual attention and caring environment that my son was given during this past school year. At Kid's Community College we are not simply a number at a school, but members of an educational community. We can't wait to start the new school year in August. Go Cougars!!!!

Kid's Community College is a small school that is growing. There have been concerns about changes at the school with teachers, and administration. As we all know change over in teachers sometimes cannot be controlled. My personal opinion as a parent, if a teacher doesn't want to be there or not doing what they need to be doing, they need to move on. I am happy with the education my child has gotten, and will continue to support the school. With parent support, that is the only way the school is going to grow, and become a better school.

My child has been going to KCC since she was in kindergarten and I have been very happy with the school. She has done outstanding on the FCATS, and has learned so much at this school. All the teachers she has had have been really nice, and concerned about their students. When you walk into the school, the staff at the front desk are very nice, and warm, and make all the families feel welcomed. I am looking forward for my child to attend the middle school.

Our six-grader Daughter, enjoys the freedom of choice. We allow her to pick and choose as she makes good choices, she has demonstrated responsibility in her decisions. Making (Pizza) & Tomatoes) are Vegetables came from USDA. Freedom of Choice.

No. I prepare my son's lunch just about every day due to his special needs so I know what he is consuming both for him and his class. I want to be aware of all ingredients in all foods/drinks which he is consuming.

If it is to keep allergic kids safe, then no. A strict rule of no peanuts or pb&j should be enough. My child's school had a peanut free table for double insurance. If for "nutritional" reasons, then NO! Since when is pizza a veggie????... More »
