I have two children currently at Lincoln I am extremely happy with the school, teachers and administration. I also have a child in middle school that was well prepared for the expectations of middle school both academically and socially.
Happy with the teachers & curriculum. Although I wish there was ability grouping. We have a neighbor that is a teacher at a local private school that her children attend (my children are in the same grade) they are learning the same stuff. I just substitute my daughter's religion outside of school. Also my nephew goes to another private school in the area, again the same things are being taught. The only thing I wish this school would teach are values - proper greetings when they meet people, respect for others. Kids are missing out on simple things that make them noticed, they need guidance in the area of social structure & collective behavior. I would also love for the school to wear uniforms, so that parents don't have to compete with the trends - not to mention cheaper in the longrun.
part #2..sorry, ran out of room...... I also was talking to other parents from three different districts and was asking about the sight word list. Come to find out that Lincoln K kids are only learns 10 words per grading period (40 words per year) and all other surrounding school kindergarten students are learning over 160 sight words per year. No wonder why the test scores are high, the tests must be lower standards or something. I truly feel bad for these teachers. Every teacher that I have met at Lincoln is wonderful. They are there for the best interest for the kids but they need to have a supportive team behind them to make this school great. I just don't see it and with the way the school board is running things, the teachers will not have it any time soon:( The teachers hands are tied behind their back.!
My son is a kindergarten student at Lincoln and the school is dedicated to their education and well being.
