I come from a Catholic private school that costs $10,000 a year to go to Shaw High School. The two schools are just as good, if not better. My science class, Chemistry, is more challenging and demanding than any of the classes that the juniors are taking at VASJ that over-charges by a mile. Now, for the school to have just been built, there are issues that are unexpected like a leaky roof and the heat doesn't go off in all of the classrooms.Of course there are more fights than in a private school because there are twice, if not three times as many students attending in an overcrowded school. At this school, I have a better chance at earning college creds to put me ahead by a year when I attend college. The fact is Shaw High is better than most would have you believe. Not to mention the success of the band!

The quality of education is lacking because the teacher can t teach because the disruption by the student and some the teacher is teaching student thing we learn already, but there are very few faculty members who care about the students and their success .There are not enough school books or other teaching materials available for the number of students who attend. So the student are learn not current thing. The extra curricular activities are what keep the students involved but not a lot. The school board takes every opportunity to hinder those programs sometime the event come to the school to see what up with the school. This is my last year and most school are focusing on there senior and our school is focusing on the sophomores, so the senior don t have no money except for like five hundred dollars and that is not going to cover the graduation.

The quality of education is lacking. The school board is composed of members who do not appear to care about the children in the district. There are not enough school books or other teaching materials available for the number of students who attend. There are very few faculty members who care about the students and their success. The extra curricular activities are what keep the students involved, however the school board takes every opportunity to hinder those programs. There is very little parent involvement in anything other than the marching band and possibly football. There is no parent involvement in the academic areas.
