My son came from a private school in Los Angeles when he began 7th grade at Matilija Junior High School. It was obvious to the 7th grade English teacher that my son was bored. The principal telephoned me to let me know that after looking at my son's progress, the school decided to move him into 8th grade English. He was already being challenged in 7th grade Advanced Math. As a parent, I stayed involved on line with my son's progress and was part of helping a student get what he needs to advance. My son is an enthusiastic about to be 8th grader. My advice; stay involved with your child's learning. The school is all about helping your child be the best that he/she can be!

The teachers really care about educating our children. Sports are very organized and fun for the kids. Great coaches.

Not very impressed so far. My son started 7th grade last year and basically did no major report writing - no science projects - no studying for major tests and still got decent grades. How can a child go thru an entire year of jr high school barely crack a book and still be an A/ B honor roll student ?
