Dunaire has made A.Y.P. several years in a row. The teachers are loving and skilled to deal with one of the most diverse population in the Dekalb county school system. Parental involvement is great and the school is going in the right direction with one of the best counselors in the state of Georgia Ms. Gatewood and the student support specialist Mr. Brown. I think the best 5th grade math teacher in the state of Georgia is at Dunaire our Teacher of the Year Ms. Thurman. Math scores continue to meet or exceed under her masterful teaching.

Totally ineffective program for bullying. Staff does not have a clue what they are being paid for.

Teachers and administration are 'OK' if you want school children 'processed' and minimums met. Bluntly - terrible procedures and personnel in following through properly in dealing with the few problem children (esp if they have 'known' parents). But they will severly follow-thru with the average children or those from different backgrounds.

They could be doing much more to earn money by collecting more then just BoxTops & Soup Labels. There are Capri Sun Drink Pouches, Used cell phones, laptops, empty ink/toner cartridges. They should look at TerraCycling.com What is PTA REALLY doing?

It is great to teach our kids to give to others-within limits. Support without demanding! I boycott school fundraisers; donate elsewhere to show real value in helping where needed.

From the asking perspective (such as schools asking students to donate to causes) frequent appeals for donations creates real problems for families who cannot afford to donate to every appeal or cause. Stop pressuring kids for money.
