I moved here from north and love the fact that this is a naturally integrated school population. No more fights than a normal school. The staff is on top of behavioral issues. My son was being picked on on the bus and I called the school the next day and the problem was solved by the vice principal. The teachers and counselors are supportive and root for your child to succeed. There are lots of activities. It's a good school, especially considering it's in a rural area. One of my children has gone on to a major university and my other one has two more years. I am satisfied with the education they received from HCHS.

Halifax County High is overall an okay high school for students in our area. There are numerous clubs and extracurricular activities to participate in, but not as many as other high schools. A lot of the teachers do care at the school, but the students don't seem very motivated to work. Halifax County High does offer College Level courses through DCC, but I am surprised that they don't offer AP classes which is what the majority of high schools offer. One major factor that contributes negatively to the school are the students themselves. There are numerous fights, but that is to be expected at many high schools. Overall, i'd give HCHS a 4 out of 10.
