As a teacher, I chose Incarnation for my kids for several reasons: academic excellence, outstanding arts instruction, clear expectations, and a good student:teacher ratio-elementary classes have an aide. Great teaching staff includes Science, Computer, Music, Art, PE, and a Librarian. Students are challenged to academic excellence and personal growth. Standards-based instruction includes small group instruction, research projects, Writing to Read and Accelerated Reading. Thinking Maps support writing instruction across the curriculum. Catholic teachings are brought to real-life experiences with special events (holiday concerts, field trips, Talent Show, weekly mass, Science Fair, Art Gallery, etc). Students learn about giving by supporting our sister parish in South Central LA and participate in the parish and extra-curricular activities (homework club, Spanish Club, Student Council, team and individual sports). Our Academic Decathlon Team wins awards and our graduates go on to the best high schools. Incarnation is a great value for an outstanding education.

I agree with the most recent posting. The new principal is great. She is not the same as the last principal and has improved the teacher quality and stability a great deal. She makes decisions that are good for the entire school and not just for the few parents that complain.
Things have improved with the new principal!!! Incarnation is the bomb! It has many fantastic things to offer, including a specialized Science teacher, an extremely talented Art teacher, and gifted instructors in Music, Physical Education, and Computer Technology. Incarnation is a wonderful place for children. The teachers are hard working, conscientious, and, above all, Christ-centered individuals with the students' best interests at heart. I recommend Incarnation to anyone who wants his/her child to thrive.
I was very disappointed in Incarnation. I attended Catholic school most of my life and expected better. My two children attended for two years but I pulled them out because I was very frustrated with the adminastration and inconsistend teacher quality. There was a great deal of teacher turnover and the principal did not take parent concerns seriously at all. It's a lot like the Catholic church, I guess: very top down management. Yes, parental involvement is high, but you must realize that it is mandatory for every family to put in a minimum number of hours or pay a big xtra fee. Having said that, one of the best things about the school was the families who attended. They were generally very interested in their kids and their education and there was a sense of cohesiveness. I understand there is finally a new peincipal. Perhaps things will improve.
