Although for the most part the school is good and the teachers are adequate, a few extremely poor teachers have been allowed to continue year to year and should be replaced: one in Computer Science, one that teaches Freshman Science, and one of the Language teachers. Administration needs to pay more attention to maintaining a staff of highest standards.

I have had 4 kids attend Glenelg, all have done well and were successful. The school's focus on a well rounded education and academic excellence makes it a great place for the students.

Our daughter is in her second full year at Glenelg HS after coming from an expensive, exclusive prep school in Baltimore County. We had more or less resigned ourselves to the idea thaat our daughter would not be the hard-wrking, outstanding student that our son is (Ivy League, dean's list, national merit finalist). So imagine our shock and utter delight when she went from being a c/d+ student to being an A student at Glenelg in one semester! The result after one year: Honor Roll, 2 sports, leadership in the Black Student Achievement Program, tutoring other students, and a thriving, healthy social life. Glenelg is the school that our daughter's $22,000 per year prep school only pretended to be. The faculty and staff at Glenelg is commited to the success of every student.

Diverse, enthusiastic, organized and traditional, this school made parenting a whole lot easier. We couldn't have done better.

Interesting idea. I'd just want to make sure the students are held to the same standards as regular school kids--including grades, and school time. If a kid can practice all day long, it hardly seems fair he take a spot from a regular student.
