If you are a failing student then this is the school for you but if you want to be challenged academically then go elsewhere. They have no AP courses and the counselors no not care at all.
In my opinion, schools reflect the outlook of the community in which they operate. Oakland could benefit from a less inward, broader, and more accepting outlook. A few of us (parents & teachers) are trying!.
