Since transferring our son this year, the experience has been nothing but positive. Excellent leadership and genuine caring for each and every student is evident. A far cry from his prior school within the Haverhill District. Students and teachers alike were very welcoming making him feel a part of the Whittier community immediately. Great communication between school and home - school website/newsletters are awesome w/lots of info. available. Only fault to find is in the building itself - in need of updating/repair.

My heart goes out to this school. Hard working staff on very limited budget. PTO is very involved and the staff is filled with people who have been natives of Haverhill almost all their lives. They have a very real interest in the school. I would like to see more extracurricular activities to teach the kids vital social skills(cultural and social tolerance), emotional intelligence and self examination (discovering and encouraging possible career interests as well as promoting tolerance for the interests of fellow students) so critical for this age group. Late school busing would help kids participate in these. Bullying/picking on the spec ed kids can be a problem. The principal does his best at keeping a firm hand on it and tries to promote an atmosphere of intolerance to this kind of behavior. Haverhill should step up their efforts at developing a forwardlooking vision for their middle schools.

This schools seems to have the student in mind. When I transfer my son to this school, The Guidance counselor, Mr. LeDuke, put my child in classes and monitor him for a week to decide which level of classes in Math, Science and History was the best for him to insure he was getting what he needed. This is much better than the school He came from, which was only interested in grades. While grades are important, by all means. The classroom for each student should be tailor on getting him to the level he needs to obtained. Also the student body of the school made my son feel very welcome. Which is a far cry better than the student body of his last school.
