My family has been at SMMS for three years, and we love it. Both of my children are doing extremely well academically due in large part to the excellent faculty at SMMS. Both of my children have participated in several of the extracurricular activities offered at the school including band, choir, Club 20 Spanish enrichment, basketball, volleyball, track, as well as student council, Camarillo Academic Olympics and several community service projects spearheaded by the students themselves. The commitment SMMS shares with me to provide an education for my children that is strong in academics and rich in spiritual values is invaluable.
My child said the other day that he feels safe in this school. There are no bullies but friends who watch out for him in regards to his food allergies. The curriculum includes Karate for Christ, art, music, and Spanish in addition to strong basics. Teachers are always available to speak to. I would like to see a stronger presence of technology in the curriculum and classrooms.
We couldn't be happier! We are a new family to St. Mary's and are very confident in our choice of school for our children. Our child is in kindergarten and the teachers are simply amazing. They implement an art program, music program and are improving their technology and foreign language programs. We love the academics, Christian values and sense of community.
Although this school has seen some challenges, the current faculty and administration are, to say the least, awesome. They have done an outstanding job of upgrading the curriculum. We have 2 children there, and am astounded that my children are reading at significantly higher grade levels. The school also actively participates in technological learning and is ranked as one of the top 5 'First in Math' schools in the state. I have never seen such high levels of parent involvement in a school from old and new families alike. The school has great art and music programs, and a strong emphasis on Christian values, character, and commitment, which you can feel anytime that you are there!
