I love the communication folders that the kids bring home! But I found out Dr. Hunt Retired and was replaced by Laura LaCroix...

We came from the Blue Springs district and have found Blackburn to be a great fit for our family. Dr. Hunt is amazing in the fact that he knows pretty much every students name in the school. I was shocked :) The teachers are also great and easy to work with.

Blackburn is a truly exceptional elementary school. Dr. Hunt is one of the nicest, funniest and caring principals I have ever met. The school excels from the laid back atmosphere. Parents are welcome in the classrooms to help out. The PTA is phenominal. Only one fund raiser a year! The PTA decorates constantly and has multiple school parties each semester. I love the communication folders that the kids bring home. I know exactly what is going on in their classroom everyday. We will be moving soon, but I will dearly miss the wonderful, loving and caring nature of this elementary school. I doubt I will find another like it.

All four of my daughters attended Blackburn Elementary. I feel that Blackburn supported students and families educationally as well as socially and emotionally. Blackburn gave my daughters a strong foundation in which to buid their lives and education. My fourth daughter's last day at Blackburn Elementry befor entering middle school was truely a very emotional day for all of us. It was hard to say good-bye to a school that had become a part of our family.

If parents are willing to drive the extra distance, why wouldn't they be allowed to choose? Every school is not a match for every child and parents know their children best ... More »

Definitely! I believe that families should be allowed to attend any school they want, because there are some who went to a good school and parents want what's best for their kids. Even education.

Families should be able to attend any school they wish.
