Even though my oldest has only completed 1 year of school at Keota, my wife and I are very impressed with the teaching staff and the involvement of the parents in their child's education. As a newcomer you can definitely sense a lot of pride in both the community and the schools. Something which is hard to feel as strongly about in a larger school (at least from my own experience). Go Eagles....

Keota has offered me, my husband, and our two children a great education. My children are either in college or graduates. I graduated from Keota many years ago and am now in an executive position in my field. The district offers college level courses which challenge even top students. A small school to be sure but overall, the teachers care about the students. Most of the teachers live in the community and have children in the school system. Great extracurricular activities too. The vocal music department involves between a third and half of the high school student population. The shared football program between Keota and Sigourney is a perennial powerhouse in the state. Keota's volleyball program is also a state contender. Both girls and boys track teams are strong. The community is clean and thriving with small businesses, often owned/operated by persons raised in the community.

Let's just say my children moved here from a larger school district and I niavely thought they would do better with more one on one attention. They are not! and the confrences I have continuously had with the teachers have resulted in absolutly no follow up. For some reason the administration does not feel they should have to follow through with the action plans that are set up between parents and teachers.
