Well... my biggest complaint is lack of planning and communication with parents... especially over the summer. Here we are just days from the beginning of school and there is still no word on the first day of kindergarten. They finally sent us a paper for her testing date (which they set on a Monday morning at 9:45 without consideration for that fact that both her father and I work) and they sent us a list of school supplies (which includes paper towels and copy paper.... never have I seen a school where the kids had to bring the copy paper). However, I also have to say that there are much worse schools in Avoyelles Parish, and I'm glad that we now live in the Cottonport Elementary district instead of the Bunkie Elementary district. I would say, for Avoyelles Parish, Cottonport rates high, but for schools as a whole, low.

this school has some students like my girls. they are very good students and make a's.they have to suffer for all the bad kids.there is a few students that don't deserve the low funding and lack of qualified teachers to teach them. i don't thinck those few children should suffer for the bad.i know my girl's don't. and as for the lack of disapline there is not any. i have to worry about my little girl's everyday. you shouldn't have to worry about your chilren when they go to school.i thinck there should be a surcurity guard put at every school. something needs to happen and soon.someone needs to do something.

The fundings must be low for this particular school. There are no extracurricular activites, next to nothing for school field trips, and we are on the third week of school and have no notification of even an Open House. Children behave extremely bad and cannot be controlled by authorites. Teachers are good when you can get them. My child spent second and third grade with half of the school year with subs. because they had no teacher at that time. Which is not great for these children's education. There's constant uncontrolled bullying and harrassment to children. Which in return is a result that there's not enough parental involvement. And of course this school doesn't give the parents that want to be involved in this school any opportunity to either.

We test kids at the end of the year and beginning. Kids that don't keep up during the summer take a giant step backwards. If our kids do complain about homework, we ask them,"Do you want to work for a company, or own the company?"

No. Let the children have a break. Let their minds focus on being children. They'll have plenty of homework when they go back to school. I would not even consider enforceing summer homework for my children. They need stress free playtime.

Yes. Of course summer is for fun however they can take a brake from homework 2 weeks or so, not the whole summer. If you teach a child the importance of learing they will enjoy the homework even in the summer.
