My children were new last year, having come from a much larger district in the area. I admit I had some reservations at first but I LOVE the Fort Cherry school district. The children were welcomed with open arms and they have made so many friends already. Academically they have excelled. Fort Cherry is very 'state of the art'. The art and music rooms are awesome and my daughter takes her spelling tests on a laptop!
Although Fort Cherry students have gone on to become NFL head coaches (2), bank presidents, and plastic surgeons, let's not forget the talented carpenters, hair dressers, business owners, and dedicated parents or stay at home moms. Success is not always in the form of a huge pay check.
With a new high school administration in 2006-07, the district is in great hands. There are many new and exciting initiatives to balance an increased academic rigor, while maintaining a child-centered approach. Test scores are higher, discipline is lower, and community satisfaction is outstanding.
Fort Cherry is one of Washington County's best kept secrets! The teachers, staff and students are simply wonderful.
