Even though Lakewood is voting to close this school by 2013, My step-son attends all day Kindergarten and is doing great. Lakewood needs to keep this Elementary open for the central downtown children, due to it's location and not just look at the resale value of the land, with so many other commercial properties already sitting unoccupied.

This is an excellent school, in my opinion. I have two children, so far, that go to Grant, and the teachers are always ready to answer any questions, and help the children with any problems they are having. The teachers keep the parents notified of any problems they see, and listen to the parents concerns.

This school was so amazing when I was growing up that I sent my daughter there. I love the academic level that the children can recieve. My child right now is in there gifted program and the teacher's knowledge and understanding is amazing. They always know what to do to keep her right on track. I am also a member of their PTA which gets everyone in the community involved and is just incredible. I highly recommend this school to anyone in the area.

My daughter has just started the 2nd grade at Grant Elementary due to the fact that her previous school, Madison, was torn down this year. So far my only concerns are safety issues for drop-off and pick-up procedures and the lack of art education.

You get what your tax dollars pay for! Excellent school for the money in my opinion.

Check to see if students with disabilities are a priority because otherwise the state doesn't pay for that child to go to School if they don't have a disability your child has to be put on a waiting list for pre-k! if their not

1.Go on a tour of a school tour 2. Talk to the director (and the teacher your child will have) about what the students day like. 3. Watch school in session 4. Look out for red flags: neglected children at play, lazy, non engaging teachers
