AE has A+ teachers, but could use significant help with some aids. The Pricipal is Excellent but due to $ cuts and poor leadership from the district and board has been stretched way too thin and is running 2 elementary schools about 15 to 20 miles apart. The school only has K-3 now, with the 4th and 5th grades moving to the Middle school. This was done for cost savings. In addition, the cuts have hurt the ability of the school to deal with disabled and the underprivileged in the area. One final note: the 2 main employers in the area are the school district and PGE. As you can see below, don't even think of saying anything bad about the schools, or you will be attacked. You can speak the truth, but then "parents" working for the school will call you a bad parent or worse as noted below.
My children attended AES and loved it. The school is small and the class sizes reflect that. The children who attend AES are proud of their school, and should be. Their API scores have grown year by year and they promise to become even stronger in the future. Because of the small class sizes, children who have been physician-diagnosed as having learning disabilities (including ADHD) are given close contact with not only the teachers and instructional aides, but with the mainstream students, as well. The school follows the California Education Code as far as their treatment of students with disabilities is concerned. Students at AES receive an exemplary education when compared to the nearby city schools. Children are at school to learn, and they do just that at AES, as well as receive the attention and care that some of the miss at home.
This school is extreamly predjudice against students with learning disabilities and adhd. The new teachers and principal at this school know little about communication skills. They are very unable to acknowledge certain situations and how these situations should be handled.
