Pleasant Hill Academy has most of the advantages of a public elementary school under Houston Independent School District, however, it also has the flexibility to offer other services to neighborhood students that would not necessarily have otherwise. As a parent of 2 children that has attended this school for the last 2 years, I am disappointed with the school's claim that they would offer afterschool programs emphasizing music and the arts for which is has not done either. The classrooms are falling apart, the staff runs the program because the principal is never there, and the entire facility is dirty. There is no parental involvement because the parents will not attend a PTA meeting, however, they will attend a student program. This school is affiliated with a church and it seems as though the church benefits more than the students who have consistently failed their TAKS tests every year.
