This is the first year my son is in this private school, he comes from another private school, I really like the education my child is receiving in the school it is outstanding, the other private and public schools in Calexico do not met to the standards. That is one of the reason OLGA seems to have always a waiting list, and the public school have children whose parent would not pay a dime for their child education and having them in an underperforming school with children that have teacher teaching to a test rather than focusing in teaching. It is the best elementary school in Calexico,CA that is one of the reason parents keep their children in that school. It is a shame to have parent that critize the school when in fact they have their children there very awkward.

I think the education is highly deficient and the teachers are very unqualified. They give a lot of homework that has more to do with work than it does learning. More goes into doing the assignment than the actual material covered. It's more arts and crafts and wrting than real learning. It's a real nuissance. Something is wrong when several parents are on the phone trying to figure out the assignments. Some assignments are not at all well-thought out and not do'able. Some times, they will assign material that hasn't even been covered in class because the teacher is given such a heavy load, they can't keep up. Still it's better than my child going to school with all the low-lifes in the public school.
I enrolled my child in Our Lady of Guadalupe Academy this school year. So far, he's only been there three weeks. Academically, he's ahead of a lot of the other students. he is in first grade and can read already because he came from small world montessori as compared to other kids that graduated from Our Lady kindergarden that cannot read yet. But I like the fact that he is learning about god, morals and respect for others which is not ALWAYS addressed in other schools. The only thing I completely hate about OLGA is the driving habits that the student's parents have. The school needs to address these bad driving habits during school meetings. It gets extremely crowded with cars rushing at the last minute, creating traffic jamms and putting our kids in danger. This needs to be addressed in every school meeting to see if it improves.
