Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I think the whole system there is horrible! The lady in the front office is just as rude as she wants to be. For 2 weeks I tried to turn in money for my sons band rental fee. One the first day of me trying the band teacher herself told me that she could not take my money. When he returned the next day with it he was told the same thing. My husband went to pay the money the next week and he was told the same thing. Of course the lady at the front desk was rude. Then yesterday at 1:30 I went and they told me she had already closed her books out. They told me to send my son in this morning before he went to first period. So I went in myself and waited a hour before they told me that she as still not there yet. They told me the band teacher could take the money after all. I had to walk to her classroom to had her the money I should have been able to hand her in the first place! The is absolutely not organization in this school. I FULLY expect for the people in the front office to be professional. I see no reason why someone in the front office couldn't take my money and write me the receipt especially since the lady who is "suppose" to do it never seems to be there!!!

I have to children in this school they love going there. Yes I believe there should be some changes but over all its a great school. The Principal they have there is awesome not so much the assistant Principal. I personally don't care for her. Also some of the others in the office they are rude that really needs to be handled because if someone walks in they should be nice to everyone not just who they want to. There is also I know of one 8th grade teacher that should not even be teaching there. Maybe with me posting this hope maybe someone can do something about this.

I am a student at Aiken Middle and it is just terrible. The disciplinary system is ineffective at best and many people are acting like wild animals while I'm just trying to learn. My girlfriend has been harassed by someone there for what seems to have been years and nothing has changed since she told Guidance. I wish I was never forced to transfer to the blasted school.

At Aiken Middle School, the administrators cannot seem to control the students behavior. The behavior has gotten worse every year. The fact that their school grade has gotten worse appears to be a reflection of the terrible student behavior.

Teachers aren't any more mature than the kids that attend. Principal seems to care very little for kids.

My son just completed his first year at AMS and I am very pleased. AMS has a caring staff and great teachers. They were very concerned with making the transition from elementary to middle school an easy one. It takes more than just complaining to make changes. Get involved..join the PTO and attend events. We can all do our part and make our school great!!

My daughter is just about to complete her 2nd year at Aiken Middle School and we have both enjoyed her being there. The principal is open to suggestions and comments from parents as well as the students. Her 6th grade year was very good. Her teachers were wonderful and very open to parental involvement. I was and still am very pleased to be a part of Aiken Middle School. Both my daughter and I look forward to next year--her last year of middle school.

My son just completed his first year at AMS. It is a great school and I am very proud of the way the Principal and 6th grade teachers help with the transition of elementary school to middle school. All of the faculty that I have been in contact with this year really seem to care about the students. My son is a honor roll student and very talkative. If there was every a problem, his teachers would email me and/or have my son tell me (this only happened twice). The teachers kept us well informed on up coming test with a monthly email and that I really appreciated. Aiken Middle is a great school and the Administration is willing to listen to all who will get involved with their childs education. That is the key to making a good school---- great.

This is my sons 1st year at AMS and I want it to be his last. I have been in the Principal's office for the 1st 5 weeks of school because my son is being bullied and the school wont protect him. The principal's opinion is that my son is asking for it. I do not like him. He talks down to everyone and I do not feel he is capable in running the school. The teachers do not seem to be able to handle their classes or the kids.

I have three children in this school. The school on the outside is nice but the principal is rude and demeaning to the parents and students. I am looking into homeschooling until my kids get into highschool.

I feel that the school could do a lot better. The teachers dont seem to take control of the classroom. There seems to be very little parental involvement.

The academics are okay. They have a few excellent teachers. The admisitration leaves something to be desired. They are more interested in protecting the name of the school and the staff than they are interested in helping or protecting the students. The staff is rude to the kids, but kiss up to the parents. There are only a few dedicated parents.

This was my son's first year at AMS. I have had nothing but great things to say about the teachers and staff. Everyone really seems to care about my child. It is a clean and well maintained facility. There are many activites for all types of interests. I have participated in many events, committees, etc. I am pleased thus far and will continue to support the teachers and administrators in their efforts to provide my child with a quality education.
