Schools were delayed bc of the threat of icy roads due to the combination of rain & freezing temps in the night. Fortunately, conditions were not as bad as anticipated, but precautions were taken. This was the shot call of the district, not the school & there was a sign in the front of the school informing parents of the delay. We don t have cable, but did hear the school delays over the radio - which everyone usually has access in their vehicles. The military bases personnel took the same precautions. Schools are place where we send our children to learn, not a daycare, making our children are our responsibility, not the schools. If one wants to rate this school based on a precautionary measure that was enforced across the entire area, including Savannah, I would have to strongly disagree. The teachers and staff are wonderful. The school is well maintained. Not only does this school teach academics, but it also teaches our children the basic morals & values each child deserves to learn to become a productive citizen. This is a family oriented school, which is a breath of fresh air in today's society.

If I could give this school a lower rating I would. I'm very displeased with the way things are ran at this institution. Now I know weather is at times an issue but to cancel school for 2 hours for some rain? get serious. I'm not sure whether M.O.E.S. is aware or not but people have lives and careers that don't always allow for their children to join them. I realize they sent a warning but once again you must realize not everyone has internet and cable access. I know you say you sent an automated call out to parents, but somehow I was overlooked and I took the children to school 3 times to find it closed for rain. Now I know you want to cancel school on a whim but I have things I have to do. IF you want a school that notifies you on a whim of things then this is the institution for you. If you'd like your children to go somewhere where you'll be involved in their doings, pick anywhere but M.O.E.S.

I am so amazed at how much my granddaughter has advanced in learning. Her enthusiasm for learning has increased exponentially too. She loves her school, her classmates, her teachers. It could not happen with a strong school administration and great teachers. This is especially important because of the great number of children from military families. These children need this strong support, caring, and encouragement.

The best school ever. The teachers, principal and staff do so much there's almost no need for a PTO. They've never failed to meet AYP. They're DOE report card shows they are above average in almost everything. Stats don't lie. The teachers and staff take a proactive approach to install respect and values instead of by fear or discipline. I only wish I lived here longer than 3 years, but that's the life a military brat I guess. It's going to be really touch to leave this school when we do. We came into this school in the last 2 months of 1st grade and our daughter made so many memories and friends....we both cried when we watched the DVD video Ms. Hall had made for all her students that had pictures from throughout the year. We moved 3 times, due to military, and our daughter had gone to 3 different 1st grades by the time we PCS'd here. I'm glad the best was saved for last.

I love this school. I never thought getting my little girl in a public school would go so smoothly. They were so patient with the process from day care to school. Her teachers give me a daily update on her behavior and activity each day. I can not even count the many new things my little girl comes home talking about math, letters, dinosaurs CPR. Oh my gosh me being in medical I was blown away one night while I pretended with her and she told me I had to go uncontious (yes her word exactly) and she started performing CPR on me. How many five year olds know how to do CPR, granted it was not very gracful but she did a wonderful job, for her age. I refuse to move from the area in fear she won't have as good a school where we move to.

We love Mossy Oaks elementary! We moved from Hilton Head just to attend this school. I have four kids in elementary school and feel that it is important to be involved and feel I am always welcome here. I know teacher in every grade level and everyone is so friendly and helpful.

i moved from a large house into a much smaller home Just to put my child in this school. Teachers are interested, involved, and caring. The principal and assistant principal (both former teachers at the school for over 25 years) are moving the school forward, including parent and student input to incorporate new ideas and programs to improve student performance and even more important to help them become healthy, happy, productive adults.

I have my third child going through MOES now and couldn't be happier. All of the kids have been excited about school, happy to see the teachers, and learning in leaps and bounds. It is a warm inviting neighborhood school for all!

My child is going into the second grade, and so far, MOES has proved to be an awesome school for her. Her teachers have been enthusiastic; the principal and assistant principal are both involved on a constant basis with the kids and the staff. They are both terrific. I'm very pleased and look forward to another year at MOES!

Mossy Oaks Elementary School in a great school. The staff is extremely friendly and approachable. I am impressed that the teachers are always available. The gym may be updated soon. It would be nice if the library space was larger. Overall, I have been extremely pleased!
