Kind of a boring school, I would love to transfer to a different school, but it is an okay school. Lots of fights.!
Camden Middle School, in my opinion, is one of the finest in the district. It has an extradinary after school program along with outstading extra cirrcular activities. I have 3 children attending Camden Middle School and they tell me all the time how much they admire Mr. Jordan and his friendly, outgoing attitude towards the students. I'm a proud parent of Camden Middle School and I encourage to anybody who's looking for a school to send their child to to look into CMS.
Camden Middle School gave my two daughters a wonderful academic foundation. They both gained a sense of independence and leadership from the many programs offered there. The technology programs are outstanding. My daugthers learned keyboarding skills as well as how to navigate the basic office programs. The math program prepared them well for honors classes in high school. One of my daughters made an F in math in fourth grade, later made A's in high school math. CMS helped her acheive this. The English in 8th grade was awesome. The parents are involved in PTO, Camband - the band booster club, School Improvement Council, the athletic parents' organization, and parent volunteers. The principal and his two assistant principals handle discipline fairly and swiftly. Laurens Street disects the campus. The eighth graders cross the street at a stoplight for them. Mr. Springs the eighth grade asst. principal always monitors the traffic.
This school really isn't one of the districts best. There are very few teachers who show genuine concern for the ability of the students to perform and to continue to be successful in high school and college. While much cannot be said for academics, the school band is excellent and is directed by a highly qualified instructor; extra time is always taken to ensure that the students are not only doing well but also enjoying themselves. The administration too is a bit lax; it fails to effectively cope with violent individuals. One of the few things that this school has for it is the gifted and talented program, SEAGUL, that is based in Memorial Hall. The SEAGUL program is truly a blessing for students who are a part of of it by offering a more stable learning envoronment.
Weak academics but a very strong technology program. Run-down buildings and not well kept. Children in 8th grade have to cross a busy street to attened classes in another building. The technology program is the only positive element we saw in this school. The few good teachers appear stiffled by weak administration.
