Memminger Elementary School

I retired this year and started tutoring a 6th grader from Memminger Elementary school. It has been a wonderful experience for me, working with his teacher, mother and fellow volunteer who asked me to help. The teachers have high expectations for the children and the children are so polite and full of energy. It is both a challenge and a delight to spend time with them.

Dedicated teachers and support staff. Hands on principal who really cares about the students. Students are creative, open to new ideas, eager to learn and very proud of their school.

Have been volunteering @ Memminger for over 5 yrs. Enjoy the spirit of the kids, the dedication of the teachers/administration. Have seen progress being made and the positive re-enforcement in the kids as they make that progress.

I have volunteered at Memminger in the past and have been very impressed with the teachers and administration. The children are very creative and a joy to be around.

Memminger is a fantastic place to work! The leadership is second to none and the staff is truly a learning community. There is a true sense of community as soon as you enter the building!

I am involved in this school's planning committee for its plans to become a community magnet school with a global focus starting next fall. Principal Dixon is wonderful and the teachers are on board to transform the school with a global studies focus and an inquiry-based approach. As a global school, Memminger will bring the county's standards based curriculum to life through social studies, geography, languages, and cultural appreciation. The school is very welcoming of me as a parent and happy for my involvement.
