I love this school they have a great athletic program, a great academic program, and it has that Family feel to it. I personally like small schools and well this is a small schools . their are about 18 to 22 kids in a class, the class choices are spectacular, and the teachers are great. The ony thing that is looked down upon is the area, if you go their it isn't in the best area of town , but there has never ever been a problem with the environment . I would highly recommend you send your child to this highly diverse, grade a standing , school
I'm a student at Charleston Charter. Some of the teachers here are really cool. They let you play with your phone in class and stuff. They also let you goof off sometimes. If you have a parent who will come to the school and complain, you don't have to go by the rules. One kid has his own bus stop because the kids dad came to the school and complained. Another kid got in no trouble at all for mooning us. But a smart girl I know got in trouble for not wearing a belt. The people who run the school have slack days and then try to take it out on us when things get bad.
My daughter is a student in high school at CCSMS. The academics and the teachers are awesome! The teachers communicate with the students and my child is receiving a good education at the school. The vice-principal is doing a commendable job to make this a great school. However, other administration at this school are INCONSISTENT at best. Parents and students are extremely frustrated with the leadership. That may be one of the reasons there is still extreme turnover in student numbers. Policies, rules go from not being enforced to extreme consequences for first-time offenders. Also, students do not receive like and equal treatment for the same offense. School events are published and then cancelled at the last minute or occur and are very unorganized. 2012 marks the school's first graduation class. Hopefully, the administration will move in a more productive/consistent direction in the future.
I love Love LOVE CCSMS. I have worked in Charleston County teaching Middle School and CCSMS is the best! I would gladly send my own children to CCSMS. We offer many opportunities for ALL students. We use true differentiation in our classrooms, and provide an excellent atmosphere for learning. We take great pride in our academics and foster leaders at school and the community. From Odyssey of the Mind, to African American Quiz Bowl, Spelling Bee, Talent Shows and more... we have it all at CCSMS!
A great school with wonderful faculty that truly care about the students. It is challenging and provides a wonderful math and science education.
The Charleston Charter School for Math and Science is different from any school I have ever taught at. The students come from so many backgrounds, but get along and learn together so well. The school is filled with technology that is not found at so many other schools in Charleston County. Our HSAP scores are often some of the highest in the county. Our curriculum is rigorous and holds students to high expectations. If you are looking for a school where you can be a serious student and learn a lot, this is the place for you. We are a small setting with small class sizes, and you aren't just a number on campus. You know almost everyone you go to school with and all of the teachers on campus. Check us out!
Very challenging and modern school. The advanced technology leads to educating the children of any charleston county resident to there maximum potential. Keep up the good work, but the school is actually located Downtown Charleston, 1002 King St.
