I think if you haven't already looked at it, then you should. Sure it's not for uppity parents who are obsessed with test scores and want homework every night because they feel like controlling every single aspect of a child's life, but those people can just go to some public school. As an autistic former student, I think that it worked wonders on my behavior. I am in all-honors courses and rarely even cry anymore, whereas before I was likely to melt into a puddle at not getting ice cream at age 7.
CJDS is the best kept secret for preschool and elementary schools in Columbia! Teachers are highly qualified and all care deeply about each and every one of the students and their families. An inquiry and project-based approach to learning is used in all grades, toddlers through the 5th grade. Students who leave CJDS and move on to middle school are each highly successful in the highest rated magnet and middle school programs in the city. Class sizes are small; less than 12 kids in each elementary school class!
