I would like to see faculty enforce The Code of Conduct more. My son acts out in class and teachers phone me as if I can motivate him over the phone. I appreciate knowing what he's doing at school but enforce the code please. Excellent communication from teachers. Top notch arts program. Hats off to the Special Ed group.

I have two children at this wonderful school. Dreher maintains the highest of standards and your children will definitely be challenged. I know several people who's children have transferred from two of the local private prep schools. These people say that Dreher is far more challenging than the private schools. Dreher sends students to the Ivy League every year. The two most expensive private schools in the area cannot make the same claim. You're not getting what your paying for folks, bring your kids to Dreher!

dreher is an asome school and they do have alot to give to your children as a student who goes to dreher and who has a younger sibling that will being going there in two years i think dreher i a school that does challenge it's children and they do excell in every thing mins our football team but that really does show that the students are focused on there work and not just focused on sports and the teachers are wonderful they really do care and they do try to help each of there students .

Dreher High School offered more foreign language courses than any other school and has also supported the arts as much as possible since its beginning. I'm an alumna who is the widow of an alumnus.
Excellent academic track record. Ranked higher by newsweek than ac flora. Ap students excel, seem to routinely win academic decathalons, etc and each year have more merit semi finalists than the public and private schools in the cola area. Wish football team was better, but basketball, baseball, soccer, cross country , tennis are competitive. See parental involvement getting better.

Dreher is an excellent school. After reading some of the complaints on this site about Dreher, I can tell you now, that most of it is nonsense. If your child is strong academically and you don't want to pay all that money for a private school, then Dreher is where you want to go. Dreher offers more AP courses than most schools, giving a lot of students head starts into college. It's not uncommon for AP students at Dreher to go into college as a 2nd semester Freshman. It is true, the professors can be challenging, and there isn't a boat load of parent involvement; but these teachers will expand your child's mind, and prepare them for the road that lies ahead. They teach you work ethic, drive, and how to evolve as, not only a student, but as an upstanding citizen in the community. If you want success, choose Dreher

I disagree with all the parents that have something bad to say about Dreher, because they only seem to be complaining that their child is not educated enough, or able to do the work that the teachers assign. The work is not that hard if the child will just give the time and effort to complete. Yes, the teachers might pile alot of homework on the children, but if you are suggesting that your child does not do it, then that will just be your child failing, and going through another year of 'hard work' AKA: high school. High school is hard and the parents and students, just have to accept that fact and get over it. You can send your child to another school where the teachers bairly give homework and bairly teach, verses a school where their child can actually learn something and make something of their life.

There is no doubt that Dreher High School is outstanding, especially with respect to academic standing. I have read a lot of complaints about the students in the upper tiers getting the most attention. That is a tendency that unfortunately is true in almost all schools that have some form of differentiated learning. My child is in advanced classes. My complaint is that some of the teachers are overloading students with mindless activities and not fairly grading them for their fine work. The use of harshness, diatribes, and pure meanness displayed by a very few teachers toward very reliable students is appalling. One can only imagine how badly the students is less advanced courses are treated. Moreover, there needs to ge a greater emphasis on camaraderie rather than simply making high scores on the SAT so that the school can look good. Too much pressure for young people in my opinion.

I think Dreher may be a good school if your child happens to be in the advanced placement classes. It's hard to keep your child on track under a situation like that. She had more homework and more challenging work in middle school. I agree with the person who said that Dreher is a good school while people are looking. I wish there was another option for our zone.

As a former student at DHS I feel I've seen first hand what really goes on behind the doors of Dreher. Some teachers may try to actually reach out to the students, but the majority feel that they are just there because they can't find a better job. Our school prides itself in being the best, but we're only the best when someone is watching. I switched to another school to get a better experience and I must say I'm pleased with my choice. Dreher has a lot of work to do to improve the school. I suggest they get started.

Dreher is without a doubt the best high school in the area. When I sold my house in the Rosewood Area, the number one selling point was its Dreher zoning. Comparable in academics to the local Columbia private schools, Dreher provides a diverse population that the upper-crust private schools do not. Dreher is well-known in the area for it's outstanding academic record, diverse group of kids, and very active parents.

When I attended Dreher, I was absolutely miserable. Alot of focus was aimed towards academically advanced students, while the others were herded around from class to class. Many of the teachers acted as if they were too smart to be working such a lowly job. Further, they were closed discussion when questions were asked outside of class. I moved to another school my senior year, and was shocked at the positive difference.

Dreher has great teachers, especially in math and science. They excite students and make them want to excel. Our children have all performed exdellently on AP exams and have attended top colleges.

As an alumni, with a younger brother now attending, I think Dreher is one of the better school in the state. There is a continual focus on the 'basics', not just the latest educational fad. Parental involvement is high (many are former students). It's nice to see a non-suburban racially diverse school succeed!

Dreher High School is a mediocre school that doesn't present many challenges for the average student. Parent involvement is not very high; I know of other schools in the area with much better parent involvement. The academics are so- so, and if you are wanting your child to play a sport for their school, your child should head on over to AC Flora High School.
