This school is lacking in several areas. Overall it seems as though the teachers don't have control over the students because the classrooms are filled with noisy and disrespectful children, which make it hard to hear or concentrate in class. In part that is definitely the parents fault. The teachers are supposed to put grades in the system so you can keep up with where you child is at but they wait until the last minute and don't keep them completely up to date. So you believe your child has a certain grade then it changes right before reports go out. The magnet program is good and the teacher who runs it is great. If this weren't my sons last year there I would probably pull him back out to homeschool again.

I am wondering where these people had their kids prior to this school because I think this school lacks good teachers, the kids that attend there are horrible with lots of dicipline problems, and the rules they have are ridicules. My daughter is an honor roll student and has never been in trouble at school, not even detention once. This school is horrible and I o not recommend. Then again if you live in this district what other choice do you have, other than home school. Honestly, my family is considering the home school path because I fear my daughter will not get the education she is use to.

Being enrolled in all Honors courses was a headache! All it achieved for my daughter was hours of additional homework that she couldn't keep up with. She couldn't do any extra curricular activities. We won't make the same mistake next year in high school.

I love this school so much. Everyone is very well-rounded and the teachers are top- notch. They know how to deal with disiline problems. I came from a very sorry school district in sumter and this is much better for my social life and my education.

I have watched my son grow since attending Summit. He's learned to handle new pressures in a new city; he's advanced to honors courses and has developed promising self-discipline and self-motivation since attending SPMS. I am very proud of him and the job the teachers at Summit do for their students! Thank you, Eagles!

In 2011-2012 South Carolina used the End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) to test middle and high school sutdents in algebra 1, biology 1, English 1, and US history and government. The EOCEP provides tests in high school core courses and for courses taken in middle school for high school credit.The EOCEP is a standards-based test program, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of South Carolina. The goal is for all students to score a C or above.
The different student groups are identified by the South Carolina Department of Education. If there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
