I have a child who went to Blackwater for all 3 years. I have a second child in sixth grade there now and I couldn't be happier. Overall I have been very pleased with the quality of the teachers, the instruction my children are receiving, and the leadership of the school. The administration is wonderful. The few issues that I brought to their attention were taken seriously, addressed appropriately, and resolved in ways that I and my child both felt were appropriate. Just as any other situation, you get out of it what you put into it. My daughter received a wonderful education at this school, as my son is now.

I am a student at Black Water. Im concerned bullying is a major issue here. The kids can get rowdy but they take privalages. But most of all I Love MOST of the teachers. The teachers sometimes have an attitude which is not professional at all. So if the teachers can work on that it would be much better to be here 5 days a week.

I am in eighth grade and most of the teachers in eighth grade are amazing. I am so glad I have them. I won't say any names, but my math teacher is great. He is really nice and he teaches everything that is supposed to be taught instead of giving it to the students and making them learn it themselves. He also takes the time to teach the kids that don't get it right away. I'm glad I got him as a teacher. This is my greatest year of school (so far) and I wish this year didn't have to end.

The jury is still out on this new school. According to students, some teachers are pretty cranky. I am surprised with regulations; the students feel like they are strickly monitored in the hall and must walk in lines; they aren't allowed to eat with friends during lunch since they fill tables in a row as they enter the lunch room, etc. They do offer, however, languages, p.e., and a variety of 'discovery' classes. The principal is very approachable and really seems wonderful and concerned! Although my student has met several nice friends, I do know another who feels like the bullying last year was excessive.
