This is an EXCELLENT school. You will not find one bad teacher in any grade. And the parents who support the school are the best. Everyone is involved and wish only the best for our students. GO RVES!!!!
My daughter has done wonderfully at Riverview, with caring teachers all around, and an administrative staff that communicates with parents in a timely manner. They rock!
My kids just started attending Riverview Elementary and they love it. The teachers and school administrators are so helpful and friendly, going the extra mile to ensure that the kids know the subject matter fully. My kids love their school and so do I. Go RVES!
I am a teacher at Riverview and have been there...a long time. I have taught in other schools, both in and out of this district and I cannot imagine a better, more supportive, family focused environment for any child. The population is culturally, racially, economically, and academically diverse (just like the real world)and the focus is to reach each child as an individual. My highest compliment - If allowed, I would send my own child there in a heartbeat.
My children (a second grader and a kindergartner) have been attending Riverview since we moved to Fort Mill this last summer. They both have excellent teachers who expect good behavior and keep the students on track with their studies. The administrative staff is very helpful and welcoming. My children's education at Riverview has been great.
Yes, there is overcrowding in the Fort Mill School District. The school district is hoping to open three new elementary schools by 2009. Children who move into the Orchard Park and Gold Hill neighborhoods until then will be bussed to Riverview Elementary. Although this seems like a big pain, it really isn't bad. The staff at Riverview is excellent. I have been extremely pleased with my children's education here. The principal and assistant principals are top-notch. I think they deal with real problems effectively and they make it a point to know the students in their school. Class size is around 18. Classroom discipline is managed effectively so that students can spend their day learning. They do learn (a lot) and they love learning at Riverview.
Teachers are nice, but the teacher my child had (who was nice) fell short on educating my child. The Teacher seemed frazzled most of the time. My child learned more last year in class (penmanship, math, spelling, grammer, etc) than in this year. Having 'nice' teachers can only go so far, that will not help your child in the next grade. As far as the over crowding, when you try and reach out to the Administration they give you alot of lip service. They are very nice people, but they lack in leadership and the teachers ( most of them) need to be held to a higher standard of teaching.
This is a great, well organized school with terrific teachers and excellent leadership in its principal. Extra cirricular activities are a bonus to students.
Great school and my son loves it. I love the staff and the teachers.
