School highlights:
After having our two sons graduate from HPCS in the 90s we are now overjoyed to see the same Biblical standards and caring faculty now influencing our grandchildren. Many of the faculty and leadership of the school have been there for many years so it greatly contributes to the steadfastness and consistency of this ministry.
As an alumni of the school and a parent with kids in high school and elementary school I will say the following. Upon leaving school I tested out of 36 hours of college work using C.L.E.P. tests. I wrote a thank you note to my teachers for preparing me. My public school friends couldn't figure out how I passed all those tests. I responded that I learned most of the answers while in high school. That was in the late eighties and early nineties. As you can imagine I am thrilled that my children are able to experience some of the same teachers and learning experiences that I went through. I encourage my oldest child by reminding her that the hard academic standards and testing will prepare her and allow her to thrive and succeed in college because she will not be overwhelmed. Happy 40th HPCS !!!
Hmpton Park is a fine school. I've had 2 children go all the way through K - 12. I anticipate 2 more graduating from there in the next 4 years, and 1 just graduated from Kindergarten. After recently experiencing a reduction in enrollment due to the economy, the Administration has redoubled their efforts to make every improvement possible in order to better compete with other Christian Education alternatives. As a result HPCS is going from a good option to a great option.
What happened to a great school? Kids in 1st thru 6th will get a great education. Once they hit Junior and Sr. High things start to change. Once had a caring administration. Was told if I didn't like the direction of the school we could find another option for our children. So we did.
Your child will receive a great education at HPCS. The reason I gave an average rating is because of how students are treated. If you want your child not have an opinion and to be treated unfairly if you do not fit their mold then this is a good choice. Their attitude is that the teacher/admin./coaches are always correct so do not question their decisions. They also have a very pious attitude. If we had to choose again we would choose a different school.
FANTASTIC! Is the word that comes to mind in describing HPCS faculty, staff, and pastoral staff. All are interested in your children on a personal level as well as academic level, that makes all the difference. Always a contender in state music, fine arts, and sports competitions. High school kids consistently receive academic or sports scholarships, so not left out because of private school. Unlike public schools, parents are encouraged to have an active role in the school. My wife and I were chaperones on 6th grade trip and had more fun than kids. We have three kids in HPCS and our fourth will be in next year. We absolutely love the atomosphere on the campus.
What an awesome school, both from academic and ethical position. Have children in fifth and eighth grades and would rate it as one of the best in the country.
