Lower Richland High School

This school is great. I was hestiate because of the reviews but I was impressed with the overall school. I would recommend this school to anyone.

I am a graduate of Lower Richland High School and I am having a very successful career. I believe students whom want to have a successful high school career; they can. Students can get anywhere from here. Choose success and you will achieve success.

I am a Junior at Lower Richland and it really isn't a bad school. I'll admit that it wasn't great when I arrived there my Freshman year but it wasn't as bad as everyone made it seem. In the past year we've improved our HSAP scores and our EOC scores. We've also improved a lot of other things with the new staff. I'm tired of everyone looking in the past! LR is moving on to bigger and better things and we've come a long way. I would change schools for anything. :)

School had an awesome 2011-2012 school year!!!!! They have an awesome new principal and lots of new teachers. They have added several great courses for the kids!!! I look forward to their 2012-2013 school year. With the leadership of this great principal things can only go up from here. Test schores were great, passing rate was up!!!!! So proud of these Diamonds!!!

I am a gratuate of Lower Richland 1960. We had a reunion with a tour of the school Sat sept 18 2010. we attended the football game friday night, and was happy to see they won one for the class of 1960. 21- 7 over Eau Claire. We were even escorted to mid field and introduced. I thank the Principal for this task. We toured the school Sat morning, and I am very impressed with the curriculem the students are using. Keep up the good work, and I know the graduates will be the Best

I have a teenager going to this school and considering the fact that we have moved from another high school in the state and previously another high school in Richland County District 1, I can honestly and truly say that this school is horrible. The children are very unruly, teenage pregnancy rate is high, the staff including the principals are ineffective and just there to get a check. They are really not proactive at all. This is speaking from dealing with them firsthand.

I am so proud that my children are a part of this school. The teachers are great and the prinicipal and staff really care about the future of 'each' student. I was really happy to hear that the school received a Palmetto Silver Award. This school has had major changes for the better and that says a lot about the community. I am so proud of this school. If you live in this community you would really be impressed with the structure of this school and it's performance.

Im a student here at Lower Richland High. It really isnt a bad school, but there are always the ignorant few that stand out. Obviously, thats what the people want to hear, and that's whats going to be displayed in news. Some of the staff here was and still is slack. Things have improved from what was, though. Recently, the school has taken many steps to improve including: construction, extra-curricular activities, tutoring, and school-wide reading. We are an International Bacclaurate school. The Hosa and FBLA recently went to competition and brought back awards. The gospel choir went to New York and brought back an award. The step teams continue to deliver in competition, also. Our principal Mr.Byers is very active in the school He's cool, but at the same time, he's all for the rules. A student's experience at this school just depends on how they use the opportunity.

As a freshmen at Lower Richland HS, I have to say it is nothing like what people said it was. I have first hand experience of how the school really is. Most people say that it's a bad schol because of the students that attened the school like 10 or 20 years ago. People just don't want to take the time to try and reanaylizy the school now. The school has great extracurricular activites that students can participate in.

I am a Rising Senior at Lower Richland. I am tired of all the negative things that are being said about my school. People say that our school is bad it is a typical high school. We have many advantages at our school. We gave out over a million schloarships for our class of 2006 to attend college. i am involve in my school and I hatre for people to put the school that i atten down because it is what you make of the school. And not what you hear. We have problems, but all schools do. Our administration is very slack, They seem as though they don't have any control, because some of them act like teenagers themselves.

I am currently a student at LR and trust me it is not that bad. Although, our school has good qualities that we are not recognized for! For example my current GPA is a 4.0 and I take all honors classes. Now that is something our school should be recognized for.

I am a 2001 graduat from LR and I must say that my hugh school years were the worst. The teachers did not care either way whether you pass or fail because they were still going to get their paycheck. The administration ir horrific. My younger brother now attends there and I hate the idea. The school is so unruly that they have to have a sub-station on campus for control. Does that sound safe to anyone else ? I know that that school has to have the highest drop-out rate. How do you expect your children to care when the teachers and other staff members are not motivating the students to care about themselves or their education.

I attended Lower Richland High (LR) and it was terrible. The administration was not very good at keeping order in the school. At one point in time there were 5 riots in 1 DAY! The school was a mad-house. There were a select few teachers that did a good job but that was it. Sure its nice to have a good teacher, but what good is it when you cant learn because of the classmates. Kids would get kicked out of the school but later would be allowed to re-enter. THAT WAS A DUMB THING!! The only thing that school did right was pep assemblies which were still bad. Mr.Drennon was the best thing that could have happend to LR, too bad he left. THANKFULLY, I am gone now so it doesnt bother me, but I do wish people would stop being so ignorant and see the school is BAD!

Am a 2005 graud. at lower richland high school. lower richland is not all that bad of a school people think it is. I mean yes we have problems sometimes , but every school does. yall be trying to make L.R as the badest school in the world, but what yall fail to look at is the good things lower richland high has does. so um for the people putting negative things on here about L.R go head but remember we always going to shine .

Lower Richland is a horrible school. The administration is terrible and disorganized. The administration is not the only problem, most of the students here don't care about their education and have bad behavior. It is next to impossible to keep new teachers at this school because of the way students behave. Most of the academic programs are bad, and there are only a select few quality teachers. This school is very bad and I can't wait to get my child out of there. She has been complaining about the school since the beginning of the year.

Lower Richland is not ultimately a bad school. However, students will do what the administration allows them to do. So, students at LR appear to be out of control because our administration is lackadaisical. The whole administration staff is a big joke to the students because they act like children as well. I'm currently a sophomore at LR and it makes me sick to hear all of the negative talk that's going on about my school. But I guarantee that if you spent one week in our world you'll see that it's really not the kids it's the poor administration that lets us roam around. I love LR, we have a lot of good students, and I'm one of them. I have a 3.8 GPA and I'm currently apart of National Honor Society, Student Council, and FBLA!!!! So it's not the kids trust me I know!!!

I was a 1988 graduate of LR and it was a great school. I totally agree with some of the students concerning the staff at the school. I think the situation there has gotten to the point that the parents don't care either. For one thing, it's very overcrowded. They continue to build subdivisions in the area but no high school to eliminate the overflow. My daughter is a 9th grader there and at first I was very concerned, but she seems to like it. If you talk to your kids and tell them to be careful who they hang around I think they'll be fine. If I could afford private school I would send my daughters to one just because of they way things are at the school now. I love my old school, but things just has changed so much since I graduated.

I am a senior at Lower Richland and a varsity cheerleader. We are not the school that the everyone makes us out to be. Everything that you hear on the news is the same stuff that goes on at other schools INCLUDING Dreher and AC Flora. The only reason that the public hears so many bad things about us is because we are a predominately black school. Our district neglects us. We have a horrible administration who, this year, is trying to crack down by not allowing students to wear FLIP FLOPS. The students here are not the issues. It is the administration and that is it. Nothing more. We do so many wonderful things at LR but no one will ever know because the media is so obsessed with the bad things that they can't see the good. I love this school and would never go anywhere else.

This school is no joke. It is a good school. All schools have there bad kids. The teachers are good and so is the principal. All you people that listen to what other people are saying in how the school is so bad, you need to stop listening cause when you hear those things is because people seem to only remember the bad things about our school but not the good things.
